Ya gerl is a big fan of smoothies. I make smoothies for every reason really… it’s quick, filling, a great way to get rid of food that might normally be wasted (ie. overripe bananas), and the perfect vessel for “hiding” vegetables and fruits for picky kids.
I recently completed an AIP protocol diet to see if there was anything that I could be sensitive to that I didn’t already know about. I actually think and AIP protocol diet is a great starting place for people who wonder why they feel like they are not performing optimally, but don’t know why. Just gotta mention- doing an AIP diet ain’t easy. You really need to be motivated to complete it.
Check out this AIP smoothie I made up and have kept steadily in the rotation because it is just so damn good and satisfying:
1 cup spinach*
1 banana
½ avocado
1 large handful mango*
1 cup (or so!) coconut water
1 tbsp (or 1 pack) Bulletproof Brain Octane Oil
That’s it! Blend and enjoy. Oh, and….You can use fresh or frozen banana, avocado, or mango, just adjust the coconut water to the consistency you like!
*NOTE ON THE SPINACH/ MANGO COMBO:
Spinach is high in iron naturally, but needs Vitamin C to be more readily absorbed into the body. Since one fresh mango has 100% of your daily value of vitamin C, this makes it a great choice to add into the smoothie. Get it!
